This new tour reveals some of the highlights of Peru, Bolivia, Argentina and Brazil. Rio de Janeiro ACTIVITY LEVEL Day 1: UK-Lima, Peru. Fly overnight from the UK to Lima, Peru. Day 2: Lima, Peru. Arrive in Peru's capital Lima this morning and stay for the next two nights. D Day 3: Lima, Peru. A city tour reveals the old and modern parts of the city, including the colonial buildings of Plaza de Armas, the monastery of San Francisco and the museum of Larco Herrera with its outstanding pre-Columbian collections. B Day 4: Cusco, Sacred Valley. Fly to Cusco in the Sacred Valley at the foot of Machu Picchu. Meet the Chinchero community, known for their traditional textiles, then continue to Moray with its Inca terraces, and Maras, home to fascinating salt mines. Spend two nights in Yucay in the Sacred Valley. B, L Day 5: Machu Picchu. After visiting the ruins of Ollantaytambo and the last Inca village, travel by train through the Sacred Valley, then onto Machu Picchu, the enigmatic `lost city of the Incas' and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. B, L Day 6: Cusco. Visit the Fortress and Temple of Sacsayhuaman, followed by a walking tour of Cusco city where highlights include the Temple of the Sun and cathedral. Stay overnight in Cusco. B, D Day 7: Puno. Travel to Puno for a two-night stay, taking in Andahuaylillas Church ­ the `Sistine Chapel' of the Andes, the sprawling ruins of Raqchi, and Pucara, known for its pottery and archaeological ruins. B, L Day 8: Puno. Puno city lies on the shore of Lake Titicaca, the world's highest navigable lake, from where you'll sail to the Uros ­ floating islands made of reeds. Afterwards, sail to Amantani Island whose local community are known for their ceramics and textiles. B, L Day 9: La Paz. Head for the Bolivian border. Visit the Shrine of the Black Virgin and cruise to Sun Island to see the Inca `Grand Stairs' and the Sacred Fountain. After lunch, see the Sun Virgins Temple on Moon Island, then cruise to Cocotini. Drive to Huatajata, visit Andean Roots Eco Village and the Altiplano Museum. Continue to La Paz, where you spend the next two nights. B, L Day 10: La Paz. Tour the city of La Paz, which sits 3,500 metres above sea level. See highlights including the handicraft and witchdoctors' markets, San Francisco Church and the cathedral. Continue to `Moon Valley' and take a ride on the city's cable car system. Dine in a local restaurant accompanied by a folklore show. B, D Day 11: Buenos Aires. Fly to Argentina's cosmopolitan capital Buenos Aires, where you spend the next three nights. Enjoy the day at leisure in the city ­ birthplace of the tango and home of Pope Francis. B Day 12: Buenos Aires. A city tour of Buenos Aires reveals highlights including the Metropolitan Cathedral, historic San Telmo area with its famous market, La Boca and the Caminito `street museum,' and Recoleta with its famous cemetery. Tonight enjoy typical Argentinian food and wine. B, D Day 13: Buenos Aires. Enjoy today at leisure, or explore independently. Alternatively, join an optional half-day Tigre and Delta excursion, a full-day at the Estancia Santa Susana ranch or a dinner and Tango Show. B Day 14: Puerto Iguaçu. Fly to Puerto Iguaçu, then onto Foz do Iguaçu bordering the mighty Iguaçu Falls. Stay for two nights B, D Day 15: Foz do Iguaçu. Visit the Brazilian Falls then head for the Argentinian Iguazú National Park and take the Ecological Jungle Train to `The Devil's Throat' observation point. B Day 16: Rio de Janeiro. Fly to Rio De Janeiro for a three-night stay. With its world-class museums, stunning botanical gardens and sprawling favelas the city has much to explore.
