Each tile is a work of art ACTIVITY LEVEL Day 1: UK-Tashkent. Take Saga's included VIP door-to-door travel service to the airport, fly overnight to Tashkent. Day 2: Tashkent. Transfer to your hotel for an overnight stay. Meet the Professor of Archaeology who'll give talks, and visit key sites including the Museum of History, the Muyi-Mubarak Mosque and the Khast-Imam complex. B, D Day 3: Tashkent-Urgench-Khiva. Fly to Urgench. Visit the 2nd-century fortresses of Ayzkala before lunch in a yurt camp. Transfer to Khiva for an overnight stay and tour around Khiva's inner fortress, Itchan Kala. B, L, D Day 4: Khiva to Bukhara. Tour the Ismail Khodja Mausoleum, the 16th-century Kunya-Ark Castle and 19th-century Muhammed Amin Khan Madrassah. Then journey across the Red Desert, a route that once took camel caravans a month to make, to Bukhara for a three-night stay. B, L, D The dome of the Tilla-Kari madrassah in Samarkand Day 5: Bukhara. A centre of trade and education for over 2,000 years, Bukhara is the best example of a medieval city in Central Asia. Seek out its key sights on a walking tour of its old town, including the 10th-century Samanids Mausoleum. Dine at a local guest house. B, D Day 6: Bukhara. Head to the Paykend settlement, a town buried by desert sands and dubbed the Asiian Pompeii. Continue to Varakhsha to find the unearthed remains of a beautiful city. B, D Day 7: Bukhara to Shakhrisabz and Samarkand. Travel to Samarkand via the remains of Erkurgan ­ abandoned in the 6th century. Visit the ruins of the ancient town of Kesh that dates back to 8th century BC. Stay two nights in Samarkand. B, D Day 8: Samarkand. Head out of the city to the Afrosiyab Museum, the archaeological sites of Kafyr-kala and Jartepa. Dinner is at a local restaurant. B, D A measure of saffron Day 9: Samarkand to Tashkent. Admire majestic Registan Square on today's tour. This grand plaza was built by the Timurid dynasty. Later take the bullet train to Tashkent for two nights. B, D Day 10: Tashkent. Transfer to ancient Kharashkent to see ruins dating back to the 2nd century BC. Farewell dinner at a local restaurant. B, D Day 11: Tashkent-UK. Explore Tashkent on a sightseeing tour before your return flight to the UK and VIP door-to-door travel service home.
