Enjoy capturing Strasbourg after dark Day 1: UK to Amsterdam. Fly to Amsterdam and embark your ship Dutch Melody, which remains moored here overnight. Enjoy a welcome reception and dinner on board. Day 2: Amsterdam. The Dutch capital is known for its picturesque canals, world-class museums and galleries, and laid-back cafes and bars. Explore the city independently or perhaps take an optional excursion to explore the city on a combined coach tour and canal cruise. Cruise overnight to Cologne and enjoy a welcome and introductory meeting with your host Jason Dodd and fellow photographers. Day 3: Cologne. Enjoy the first photography talk from your host before arriving in Cologne, Germany's cultural capital, early afternoon and join Jason for a group walk with your camera taking in sights including the vast Gothic cathedral housing the relics of the three Magi and the cobbled streets of the Old Town. Depart later this evening. Day 4: Koblenz to Rüdesheim. Look forward to spending the morning in Koblenz, situated at the confluence of the Rhine and Moselle. An included morning excursion reveals the city and the impressive Ehrenbreitstein Fortress perched on a hill. Afterwards, your cruise continues through the UNESCO-listed Middle Rhine to the charming wine town of Rüdesheim. This evening, perhaps visit one of the 'olde-worlde' taverns for a glass of local beer or wine or join an optional excursion that visits Siegfried's Museum of Mechanical Music. Day 5: Rüdesheim to Mainz to Mannheim. Attend a second photography talk from Jason before the opportunity to explore at leisure the atmospheric Old Town of Mainz and famous Gutenberg Museum dedicated to the 'father of modern printing'. This afternoon, an included excursion visits the university city of Heidelberg with Renaissance architecture, beautiful views and elegant gardens offering some exciting photo opportunities. Day 6: Strasbourg. You'll arrive this morning in the beautiful capital of Alsace, with its cobbled streets, picturesque half-timbered houses and magnificent cathedral. This morning an included city tour of the Old Quarter and canal cruise will help you get your bearings. This afternoon enjoy a final photography talk before another group walk with Jason, when you can capture images of the city by night before your ship departs for Breisach. Day 7: Breisach. Arrive in Breisach, an important medieval town of the Holy Roman Empire which is overlooked by a 12th-century cathedral ­ St Stephansmünster. This morning enjoy an included excursion to picturesque Colmar, founded in the 9th century before continuing to nearby Riquewihr, a beautiful Alsace wine town. Later today, perhaps submit one of your images to an onboard photo showcase and competition! Day 8 Basel to UK. Disembark Dutch Melody after breakfast and travel to the airport for your return flight to the UK. Some of the highlights may only be seen on optional excursions at an additional cost, or by exploring independently. Please note: this specialist holiday is for a maximum of 25 passengers. However, there will be other Saga passengers onboard who will follow the same itinerary, but with fewer included excursions and activities than guests on the special interest cruise.
