After settling into your cabin, meet your fellow guests at a welcome drinks reception. After dinner on board, enjoy a thematic presentation: A Definition of Impressionism, its Origins, the Technique, and the Context, as you moor overnight in Paris. Day 2: Paris. After breakfast on board, travel to Auvers-sur-Oise and enjoy a guided audio tour of the château where Vincent van Gogh briefly lived and painted his well-known work The Church at Auvers. This afternoon you'll have the chance to visit the Marmottan Museum in Paris, home to the world's largest collection of paintings by Claude Monet 66 in total. Return to your ship for dinner and enjoy a cruise through Paris by night. Please note: On Mondays the Marmottan Museum is closed and so on the June 21 and October 11, 2020 departures you will visit the Musee de L'Orangerie instead. Day 3: Paris to Giverny. Set sail after breakfast and cruise through the morning whilst enjoying a second thematic presentation: Claude Monet, the quintessence of Impressionism. This afternoon you'll arrive in Giverny for a visit to Claude Monet's house and gardens. Monet spent the last 43 years of his life here the pink-painted house with its green shutters, the studios and the gardens, including the Japanese bridge and the famous lily pond, are all instantly recognisable from his paintings. This evening, enjoy a Guingette evening on board your ship. Day 4: Rouen. After setting sail at breakfast and cruising through the morning you'll arrive in Rouen after lunch. From the Vikings and Dukes of Normandy, to Flaubert and Monet, history permeates the old quarter, its tall, half-timbered houses, great churches and lovely parks, all carefully restored since the war. Look forward to a thematic guided tour following in the footsteps of the Impressionists, complete with a visit to the Musée des Beaux-Arts. This evening enjoy a gala dinner on board your ship. Day 5: Duclair to Honfleur. Spend this morning cruising along the most beautiful section of the Seine, past sleepy villages and picturesque countryside scences which have inspired many painters. As you cruise, sit back and enjoy your third thematic presentation: The geograpy of Impressionism: Paris and the suburbs, Honfleur and the Noman coast. On arrival in Duclair, join an included excursion along the Norman Abbey Circuit, before setting sail for Honfleur this evening. Day 6: Honfleur to Etretat. After breakfast, embark on a walking tour of Honfleur, the cradle of Impressionism where artists including Boudin and Monet would meet at the famed Saint Simèon farm to try to capture the changing light of the estuary. You'll have free time to explore the town, and take the chance to explore the Eugène Boudin Museum, showcasing some 92 of Boudin's canvases and drawings (entrance not included). This afternoon, take a tour of Normandy's Alabaster Coast, whose cliffs and beaches have attracted artists including Eugène Boudin, Gustave Courbet and Claude Monet. See the chalk plateau of Pays de Caux, the stunning Seine Estuary, and visit Etretat town, with its famous natural arch. Return to your ship for dinner this evening. Day 7: Honfleur to UK. Disembark after breakfast for your return journey to the UK by Eurostar. Free bar excludes champagne, branded spirits and drinks from the wine list. Bar opening times may vary subject to the daily programme on board.
