Your Programme Chester's Roman Fort: The remains of this Roman cavalry fort include a bathhouse, gateways, and more, plus there's a Museum of Roman Finds with its collection of 11,000 objects. Segedunum Roman Fort: Extensively excavated, Segedunum guarded the eastern end of Hadrian's Wall, and has an interactive museum and viewing tower. Bowes Museum ­ archaeology gallery: The archaeology gallery of this museum has a collection ranging from prehistory to Roman and medieval. Great North Museum: The museum's galleries include a Hadrian's Wall Gallery, fossils, ancient Egypt and ethnographia. Jarrow Hall: Leave the Roman World behind briefly as you visit this recreated Anglo Saxon farm and village, with its associated museum relating to the Venerable Bede. Durham: Set off from your hotel for a guided walking tour of this famous medieval city, including a visit to the cathedral, regarded as one of Europe's finest buildings. National Archaeological Museum in Naples: View objects excavated from both sites for an insight into daily Roman life. Paestum: See the iconic remains of this 6th century BC Greek colony in southern Italy ­ the Doric temples, among the best preserved anywhere. Phlegrean Fields: The landscape here is dominated by volcanic activity with fumaroles and craters of steaming mud. See the Cave of Sybil, the Roman cistern, and nearby Pozzuoli with its amphitheatre.
