Your journey with us... Day 1: UK to Cologne. Travel by coach from Folkestone to Amsterdam via Eurotunnel or ferry and embark MS Asara. Enjoy a welcome reception with your expert host and baritone, Peter Grevatt, and pianist Ken Roberts, with an opportunity to meet your fellow passengers before enjoying dinner on board. Your ship remains moored here overnight. Day 5: Oberwesel to Boppard. Enjoy some free time in Oberwesel this morning before resuming your cruise. Depart late morning and cruise to the picturesque town of Boppard, in the valley of the mythical Lorelei, where you will remain moored overnight. André Rieu - in his own words... "You know that solemn atmosphere you find in the concert hall with classical music, and how it intimidates most people and keeps them away? With us, it is simply not there. My orchestra consists of young, enthusiastic musicians, who put their heart and soul into the music every evening when they play in our concerts. At one of our concerts you'll see me and the orchestra, and the audience too, all having a lot of fun together. Swaying with the music, humming along, clapping, jumping up and down - it all happens! Every evening is a wonderful experience, and in my view there couldn't be a greater pleasure for a musician." Day 6: Boppard to Andernach to Bonn. Set sail at breakfast and spend the morning cruising to Andernach, where the old town reveals part of its medieval fortifications. Perhaps join an optional excursion to see the famous cold water geyser this afternoon before you cruise to the former capital, Bonn, to moor overnight. Day 2: Cologne to Koblenz. Enjoy exploring the city of Cologne this morning. Your Cruise Host will point out some of the city's highlights which include the magnificent Gothic Cathedral, Hohenzollern Bridge famous for the thousands of padlocks placed there by lovers, and the old town. Set sail at lunchtime and cruise to Koblenz, enjoying a talk about the Strauss family from your host en route. This evening relax on board and enjoy the first of your on-board concerts featuring music from Gilbert & Sullivan and other favourites. Day 7: Bonn. This morning there's an opportunity to explore Bonn at leisure, or alternatively join an optional excursion which visits the Beethoven House Museum in the house where he was born 250-years-ago this year. At lunchtime set off on an overnight cruise to Amsterdam, with a music quiz after lunch. This evening take your seats in the ship's lounge for another live concert. Day 3: Koblenz to Rüdesheim. Spend this morning exploring Koblenz, at the confluence of the Rhine and Moselle. At lunchtime your cruise continues through the UNESCO-listed Middle Rhine to Rüdesheim. This evening perhaps visit one of the 'olde-worlde' taverns in the famed Drosselgasse for a glass of local beer or wine. Alternatively you can join an optional excursion to a working winery for a tasting. Your ship remains moored here overnight. Day 8: Amsterdam. This evening transfer by coach to the Ziggo Dome to take your Category 2 seat for a concert from André Rieu and the Johann Strauss Orchestra, as they give their New Year's concert. Known for inspiring his audiences to dance in the aisles, look forward to sparkling music as the maestro and his orchestra celebrate another new year! Return to your ship afterwards, and cruise overnight to Rotterdam. Day 4: Rüdesheim to Oberwesel. An included excursion this morning visits the extraordinary Siegfried's Museum of Mechanical Music, an eccentric showcase of self-playing instruments. At lunchtime your ship sets sail bound for Oberwesel, which is known for its well-preserved medieval wall with guard towers that surround most of the city centre. You will moor here overnight.
