Your journey with us... Day 1: UK to Amsterdam. Travel by coach from Folkestone to Amsterdam via Eurotunnel or ferry and embark your ship. Enjoy a welcome reception and dinner before beginning your cruise later this evening. Day 5: Haarlem. Perhaps explore the city with its attractive market square, Grote Markt, home to an impressive 14th-century Town Hall and St Bavo's church. This evening sail overnight towards Belgium. Tom Hart Dyke On the April 23, 2020, cruise (Holiday code: AH297) passengers will be joined on board by renowned horticulturist Tom Hart Dyke. Tom first shot to international prominence in March 2000 when he and his travelling companion Paul Winder were on a plant hunting expedition in the Colombian jungle. They were captured by warring guerrilla factions while trekking through `The Darien Gap', and he was held captive for nine months. Since his release, he has been busy building the `World Garden' at his home in Lullingstone Castle, Kent. Day 2: Amsterdam to Zaandem. The day is yours to explore the city at your leisure or perhaps join an optional excursion to Amsterdam's botanical gardens one of the oldest in the world, or to Vondelpark Amsterdam's largest park. Sail to Zaandem this evening for an overnight mooring. Day 6: Antwerp. Arrive in Antwerp and enjoy an included half-day excursion to the 16th annual Floralia Brussels flower show in the grounds and greenhouses of Groot-Bijgaarden Castle, with more than one million bulbs and nearly 400 types of tulips. The rest of the day is at leisure. Your ship remains moored here until the early hours. Day 3: Zaandam. Enjoy a full-day excursion to the famous Keukenhof gardens, also known as the `garden of Europe'. More than seven million bulbs fill the park with vibrant colour and fragrance at this annual exhibition lasting eight weeks, with dazzling displays of tulips, daffodils and hyacinths, plus flower and plant shows. Please note: the tulip displays are weather dependent, but normally bloom from mid-March to mid-May. Day 7: Antwerp to Utrecht to Amsterdam. Cruise to Utrecht, disembarking for a half-day trip to Utrecht Botanical Gardens. Originally called Hortus medicus, the gardens were first laid out in 1639 and are one of the oldest university gardens in the Netherlands. Sail on this evening to moor in Amsterdam late tonight. Disembark after breakfast for your return journey to the UK. Day 4: Zaandam to Haarlem. Cruise towards the beautiful city of Haarlem, arriving at lunch time. This evening the annual Flower Parade arrives in Haarlem, with its procession of floats carrying magnificent displays. Your ship remains moored here overnight.
