Covering over 70.5 square kilometres, the area was designated a protected area in 1980 due its biodiversity levels, geological features and archaeological heritage, and became a National Park in 1988. Teeming with wildlife both on land and underwater, the park is home to over 400 plant species on land, and over 250 plant species underwater. Join an included walk through the park to see the 200-metre high cliffs, known as `Stene', where Peregrine and Eleanor's Falcons nest, and visit the salt lake, Mir, which is fed from the sea, but is always at least 6 degrees warmer.
