A sightseeing tour reveals Athens's key landmarks before you set off on foot to see the atmospheric UNESCO-listed ruins of the Acropolis, the Parthenon and Erechtheion. B, D Day 3: Athens. Look forward to a day at leisure to go exploring independently. B, D Day 4: Athens-Ioannina. This morning, travel to Ioannina, pausing en route for a photo stop at the Corinth Canal and lunch in the port town of Amphilochia. Stay two-nights at the locally rated 5-star Grand Serai Congress and Spa Hotel. B, L, D Day 5: Ioannina. Explore the walled city of Ioannina on a half-day tour and visit the picturesque island of Kyra Frosini in the middle of Lake Pamvotis. B, D Day 6: Ioannina-Metsovo-Thessaloniki. This morning travel to Metsovo, a mountainous village in the slopes of Pindos range that's famed for its cheese and wine. Stay two-nights at the locally rated 4-star Capsis Hotel Thessaloniki. Inside this UNESCO-listed site, artefacts from its unearthed tombs are on display. After lunch in a local restaurant, continue to Kalambaka, a small town set close to the Meteora Monasteries. The first stop is the small fishing port Amarynthos, where you start your ascent through the forested Mount Kotylaia to the monastery of St Nicholas. Also visit the archaeological museum and the `House of the Mosaics', built around 370 BC, to see its original mosaic floors. Enjoy a light bite of traditional Greek mezze in a taverna.Travel back to Athens for your return flight to the UK.
