A leisurely road trip will lead you to Vancouver, from where you travel on to the glistening Alaskan waters for a week-long cruise through the breathtaking Inside Passage. Enjoy spectacular vistas in Jasper National Park ACTIVITY LEVEL Day 1: UK-Banff. Fy to Calgary then transfer to Banff for a two-night stay. Day 2: Banff. Enjoy an included gondola ride up Sulphur Mountain for stunning views at the summit, then take a guided tour of beautiful Banff National Park. This alpine resort boasts fine mountain scenery, dense forests, clear lakes and rivers, as well as impressive glaciers. B, D Day 3: Jasper. Head to Jasper, pausing admire the jade-coloured waters of Lake Louise, then enjoy an `Ice Explorer' ride over part of the Athabasca Glacier. Snow and ice surround you, enhancing the natural beauty of the landscape. Arrive at Jasper for a two-night stay. B, D Day 4: Jasper. Jasper is the starting point for many scenic hiking trails, so you may like to pack a picnic and set off into the mountains! Alternatively, you could join an optional excursion to Maligne Lake ­ a sight that epitomises the breathtaking beauty of the Canadian Rockies ­ for a scenic cruise. B Day 5: Kamloops. Travel to Kamloops and explore the natural surroundings of this beautiful region, famous for its large cattle ranches and copper mines, on organised walks arranged at your overnight accommodation. Its name derives from the native Canadian word for 'the meeting of the waters'. B, D Day 6: Vancouver. Continue to Vancouver where you can explore independently during your overnight stay. Set beside the Pacific Ocean and the majestic peaks of the Coast Mountains, Vancouver is renowned for being a modern and friendly city, home to a unique mix of cultures. B Day 7: Embark Volendam. There will be time for an included city tour encompassing Stanley Park, historic Gastown and Chinatown before you board Holland America Line's Volendam for your seven-night, full-board cruise along the Alaskan coast. B, D Day 8: Inside Passage. Sail through the Inside Passage. With ribbon-like fjords scattered with islets, verdant forests and snow-capped mountains, it's considered the most scenic sea-lane in the world. B, L, D Day 11: Glacier Bay National Park. Cruise through magnificent Glacier Bay and see some of the highest and whitest mountains of the glacier area. Admire the mighty ice spires as an on-board naturalist explains the phenomena of glaciers as you savour this unique spectacle. B, L, D Day 12: Ketchikan. Visit Ketchikan, built into steep hills with some of its buildings propped-up on wooden stilts, in the Tongass National Forest. Perhaps join an optional excursion to the Misty Fjords National Monument by float-plane. B, L, D Day 13: Inside Passage. The Inside Passage is the stretch of coast between Port Hardy on Vancouver Island and Prince Rupert on the British Columbia mainland.
