BORNEO Borneo Rainforest Adventure Enjoy the exhilarating experience of a lifetime travelling into Borneo. Its rainforests are blessed with a stunning botanical diversity and unique wildlife which you can discover as part of a small group on this fascinating tour. Explore the foothills of Mount Kinabalu, cruise tropical rivers and thrill at the chance of seeing the orang-utans of Sepilok. Visit an orang-utan rehabilitation centre ACTIVITY LEVEL Day 1: UK-Kota Kinabalu. Fly overnight to Kota Kinabalu. Day 2: Kota Kinabalu. Arrive in Kota Kinabalu for a two-night stay. D Day 3: Kota Kinabalu. Enjoy an afternoon city tour. With museums, mosques, markets, temples and panoramic views, there's lots to see here. B, L, D Day 4: Keningau. Pass through stunning mountain scenery and pause en route at the Tambunan Rafflesia Reserve's visitor centre, where you can learn about this rare bloom. Stay two nights in Keningau, where you can visit the bustling night market. B, L, D Day 5: Sabah Agricultural Park. Visit the beautiful landscaped gardens of the Sabah Agricultural Park this morning and discover an exotic world, home to a multitude of birds, insects and mammals. This afternoon, visit a local handicraft centre and learn how to make pottery. B, L, D Day 6: Kinabalu National Park. Trace the ridges of the lush Crocker Range to Kinabalu National Park. Pause en route to Poring Hot Springs Kota Kinabalu Kinabalu National Park Sepilok Orang-utan Centre Manukan Island Sandakan Sukau Keningau BRUNEI Sabah Agricultural Park Gomantong Caves Island of Borneo nights in hotel witness the rushing cascades at picturesque Mahau Waterfall and peruse the stalls laden with fruit and flowers at Kundasang's market. Stay two nights in Kinabalu National Park. B, L, D Day 7: Poring Hot Springs and Kinabalu National Park. Travel to Poring Hot Springs for a bird's-eye view of the rainforest from the 40-metre-high canopy walkway. Alternatively, if it is closed, enjoy a stroll through the exotic tropical gardens instead. The park is set at the base of Mount Kinabalu and is a botanical paradise with hundreds of species of orchids. This afternoon, you can see a showcase of the park's flora on a visit to Mountain Garden. B, L, D Day 8: Sukau. Travel along the infamous `Sandakan Track' route where British and Australian prisoners worked as labourers during World War II. Continue to Sukau village for a two-night stay. Listen out for the chatter of monkeys and tropical birds on an evening rainforest cruise along the Menanggol River. B, L, D Day 9: Kinabatangan River. Explore the dense lowland rainforests on a river trip that follows an oxbow lake, perfect for birdwatching. B, L, D Day 10: Gomantong Caves-Sandakan. Travel to Sandakan today, pausing en route at the Gomantong Caves where local people collect edible birds' nests. In Sandakan, seek out the primates in the mangrove forests of Labuk Bay Proboscis Monkey Sanctuary. Stay two nights. B, L, D Day 11: Sandakan. Visit two wildlife conservation projects that rehabilitate animals with the goal of returning them to the wild Sepilok Orang-utan Centre and Sun Bear Conservation Centre and learn about Borneo's delicate eco-system on a visit to the Rainforest Discovery Centre where you can stroll through the treetops on a walkway. B, L, D Day 12: Kota Kinabalu-Manukan Island. After a city tour of Sandakan, fly to Kota Kinabalu, then travel by boat to Manukan Island where you'll spend two nights. B, L, D Day 13: Manukan Island. At leisure relax by the pool or perhaps enjoy some of the resort's activities. B, L, D Days 14-15: Kota Kinabalu-UK. Transfer back to Kota Kinabalu for your return overnight flight back to the UK, arriving the next day. B Accommodation...
