East Sussex National Hotel QQQQ This 4-star hotel is set in the Sussex countryside, amongst two golf courses. Facilities include a restaurant, bar, lounge, indoor pool, and health club. Each of the 104 spacious bedrooms are located across three floors (including the ground) and have a television, telephone, hairdryer and free Wi-Fi. The home of Rudyard Kipling Views of East Sussex Your host, Jean Phillips Join us on this classical Christmas break in the company of your host, concert pianist Jean Phillips. Look forward to in-house concerts and recitals of classical piano works and songs as Jean is joined by guest soprano Ruth Gomme and pianist Gary Branch. After settling in, get to know your host and fellow guests at a welcome meeting followed by your first concert given by Jean and Ruth and then dinner. On Christmas Eve morning a carol concert with Jean and Ruth will get your day off to a perfect start, followed by lunch and a musical film screening. In the evening, relax as you enjoy a pre-dinner piano recital by Jean of classical and romantic music. Celebrate Christmas Day with a traditional festive lunch and glass of house wine, before joining a light-hearted music quiz around the piano. There's tea and Christmas cake and a buffet supper, before the special day concludes with a concert of 'Music for Christmas Night' performed by Jean. On Boxing Day morning, look forward to visiting the National Trust property of Bateman's once the home of Rudyard Kipling, before returning to your hotel in time for lunch. Afterwards, take your seats for a recital by pianist Gary Branch. This evening look forward to a final after-dinner concert of `Delightful Duets' with Gary and Jean. You depart the next day after breakfast. Introducing your host and guest performers Jean Phillips Jean is a concert pianist, harpsichordist, lecturer and writer. Specialising in playing period keyboard instruments, Jean performed regularly at Finchcocks Music Museum. This will be Jean's 28th year of hosting classical music holidays for Saga. Ruth Gomme Soprano Ruth studied at the Royal Academy of Music and specialises in baroque and classical music. She has sung with such well-known ensembles as The Sixteen and the English Concert and has also performed at Finchcocks. Gary Branch Gary studied piano at Trinity College of Music and in Amsterdam. He has a keen interest in early keyboard instruments and their repertoire, and has performed at venues including Steinway Halls, Queen's College Oxford and was Educational Co-ordinator at Finchcocks.
